Stevens County Ambulance Service located in Morris, MN provides Advanced Life Support (ALS) level care along with critical care ALS inter-facility patient transfers from Stevens Community Medical Center and area hospitals around Stevens County. The service maintains five ALS ambulances in their fleet along with a staff of five full-time personnel and twenty part-time EMTs and Paramedics. Two physician medical directors Dr. Chris Wanner and Dr. Michael Busian representing Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris and Prairie Ridge Hospital and Health Services, provide medical direction for the ambulance service.
Ringdahl EMS provides access to additional resources, opportunities, and career advancement for staff and area EMS personnel. These include Para-Corp strike team, disaster response, remote medical contracts, teaching assignments, and an accredited Paramedic education program through Emergency Training Associates.
Stevens County Ambulance and EMS Training is managed locally by a full-time director Josh Fischer, EMT-P, and the training programs coordinator is Mike Howell, EMT-P.
The ambulance service works closely with area first responder teams in Chokio, Donnelly, Hancock, Cyrus, Herman, Kensington. They respond to aproximately 900 emergency 9-1-1 calls and transfers each year.
Morris is home to the University of Minnesota - Morris campus and the collaboration between the ambulance service and the University for over 30 years has provided UMM students with an opportunity to obtain Emergency Medical Technician certification, work experience, and income opportunities while attending classes at UMM. These highly motivated and exceptional university students provide the service with a steady supply of personnel for the area healthcare providers.
